Band Bio
Macerator is some category of rock music whose members are veterans of the San Francisco music scene. They work to bring something beautiful to listeners — and they take great pleasure in that!

The death of Ralph Stanley prompted a dare among John Stanley, Eve Bekker and Nancie Lualhati to form a SF-country cover band, which in turn rekindled a love for playing and creating original tunes. They developed a devoted fan base. Eventually, Eve moved to France and Macerator evolved into something new with Bruce Ducheneaux and Mo Fleishmann.

Bruce and Mo have been the touring powerhouse rhythm section for Assassins of God, Enorchestra, Black Kali Ma and Waycross — separately Bruce was the drummer for Bomb, Spoke Poker & Gary Floyd and Convictions, among others. Mo plays and makes basses! He has enjoyed playing his own creations with A Subtle Plague, Hedonist, Kelley Stoltz and Tony Sales. John’s singular and liquid guitar style was developed after his years with Gels, the Lemurs, Worry Dolls, Clodhopper and the Incorrigible Danny Pearson. Nancie loves song craft and cares most about the power of a melody and the harmonic shapes; and has been in Dime Box, 17 Reasons, The Incredible Love Machine and had an extensive recording project with the late, great Tom Mallon-McCorgray.

Sometimes the wonderful multi-instrumentalist, Kristin Sobditch, who has played with Marc Capelle, Mark Eitzel, The Hollyhocks, Clovis de la Foret, Little Fuzzy and Westward Ho comes to collaborate, too — though living 100 miles away makes that a bit tricky.

“La Luz” is the band’s second album and will be released 22 September 2026.
Another beautiful collaboration with Desmond Shea, the band expanded the work with a chorale composition by Michael McIntosh. Also, a stripper’s dream horn section, comprised of Carroll Ashby, Tom Greisser and Henry Hung to render a song about social awkwardness. Why not? There is a string section made up of Dina Maccabee. And, wonderful singing from Mark Sullivan, Kristin Sobditch, Peg Salas, Sam Barnum, Julio and SF treasure, Karina Denike.

The first single, “How Do I Get to You?” will be released 11 July 2026.

We are here to tell you this: do not give up. We love the people and things we love, and are furious about all the rest of it. Fuck all those fucks and LIVE!
